Challenge

Brexit presented the management consultancy with a new challenge: the company needed a GDPR-compliant IT solution for its internal EU projects and the personal data of its EU customers. Those responsible for the data centres commissioned a consultancy firm to tender for and find a suitable service provider.

Solution

The IT consultants ran the large-scale tender for over six months. The service providers and data centres that had made it onto the shortlist based on their answers to the list of criteria were then personally assessed by the IT management and expert teams from Willis Towers Watson during visits. noris network impressed with its infrastructure and the security measures in place. Evidence of comprehensive certifications, a high level of technical expertise and references from the banking and insurance sectors were the deciding factors in choosing noris network as the colocation service provider.

Project success

Willis Towers Watson has rented cages for IT systems in noris network’s data centres in Nuremberg and Munich. These systems are mirrored between the two locations via the noris network backbone in order to offer geo-redundancy. The colocation infrastructure, which is set up redundantly across two data centres, represents a compliant and therefore perfect addition to Willis Towers Watson’s global data centre infrastructure. The systems operated by noris network are the basis for GDPR-compliant handling of EU customers and their data.
