Customer

PROFI Engineering Systems AG

PROFI Engineering Systems AG is a medium-sized system house with headquarters in Darmstadt. For almost 30 years, the IT service provider has been supporting large and medium-sized companies across all industries with customized IT solutions and strategies. The service portfolio ranges from consulting and design to provision and implementation through to IT operation and maintenance. PROFI also offers municipalities, cities and state authorities specialized software solutions for applications in public administration.

Challenge

PROFI Engineering Systems AG is a medium-sized system house with around 340 employees. The company creates individual, high-quality IT infrastructure solutions to optimize IT processes and system landscapes. PROFI AG is represented by branches throughout Germany, which are networked with the headquarters in Darmstadt. Intensive data traffic between the locations required higher bandwidths and redundant protection.

Solution

PROFI AG has been a customer of noris network AG since 2004, making use of network services and repeatedly using noris network’s data centres for its own computers and its customers’ equipment. The service provider met the need to modernize its corporate network with a highly available star-shaped network architecture of encrypted lines and a standardization of the connection of twelve locations.

Project success

Since the end of 2011, PROFI AG has had an MPLS network (Multiprotocol Label Switching) and a parallel WAN, both of which converge in a noris network data centre. The service provider secures the system house’s data flow with a firewall cluster and operates PROFI AG’s communication channels as an IPsec VPN. The Lotus Notes and file services as well as the back-ups to the company headquarters in Darmstadt run via this network without the slightest outage.
