Nuremberg. The Group is majority family-owned. With turbine components for the aerospace and energy technology sectors, screw pumps for industries such as oil and gas, the chemical industry and oil and gas, the chemical industry and shipbuilding, as well as tools and machine tools for the automotive industry and mechanical engineering, the product range covers a broad spectrum.
Around 1,800 people are employed at the various Leistritz locations worldwide.

Challenge

Continuous innovations with products and processes characterize the business of Leistritz AG. With its state-of-the-art turbine, pump and extrusion technology, the hidden champion from Nuremberg enjoys an excellent reputation far beyond the borders of Germany. To ensure that this also applies to the time after the digital transformation, the long-established company, founded in 1905, opted for IT support from noris network. The most important framework conditions for IT outsourcing in the form of colocation: retaining control over systems, increasing flexibility and, above all, being able to meet the clear requirements of customers with regard to certified data security standards.

Solution

By handing over its IT infrastructure to the operator of highly secure data centers and IT service provider noris network, the fast-growing medium-sized company has killed several birds with one stone: data quality and integrity have been ensured, a consistent, controllable and highly available IT topology has been implemented and scalability, agility and innovative capacity have been significantly increased. And in terms of cybersecurity, the Group has now also achieved a significantly higher level compared to its own on-premises data center – at the same cost as before.

Project success

With the colocation strategy, Leistritz has relocated its server room to the Nuremberg service provider’s data center. Services can be accessed with the same quality as in its own data center, but the flexibility has increased significantly and the IT availability of the company with 13 locations on three continents is 100%. The mechanical engineering company from Franconia now even has the option of consistently using the same systems for all business units. This includes ERP and CRM systems, the CAD world with PLM and the MES. Leistritz can now serve customers from the military sector in particular, where the demand for certifications has risen sharply, much more efficiently and reliably.
